Australian Open 2012: Novak Djokovic Will Continue to Roll in Men's Final

Justin WeltonJun 4, 2018

Tennis has a new face of their sport, and his name is Novak Djokovic. After winning three of four Grand Slam events a season ago, Djokovic is going to kick off the 2012 campaign with a victory over Rafael Nadal in the Australian Open in the men’s final.

Djokovic’s 2011 campaign was truly amazing. He dominated his competition while going 70-6 on the year. It was one of the greatest seasons we have seen this era. His dominance of a season ago will only carry into 2012 with his confidence level.

Confidence in tennis is crucial for success on the court. When you feel good about your game chances, are you are going to feel confident about your strokes. That’s when you know when you are on top of your game.

Djokovic is on top of his game right now.

Nadal has dominated Djokovic on the clay surface at the French Open and other clay venues, but it has been completely turned around on hard surfaces. Djokovic has been Nadal’s bugaboo opponent over the past few years. He broke Nadal’s 32-match win streak in 2008 and destroyed it with his own in 2011.

If Nadal can’t defeat Djokovic when he’s at his best, it’s going to be difficult to defeat Djokovic when he’s playing as well as he has in the past year. It’s going to take an unbelievable effort from Nadal.

We are looking at the dominant player in the game of tennis. We are past the Federer domination and we are getting closer to the end of the Nadal domination; now it’s Djokovic’s turn.

Nadal is the closest thing to Djokovic right now, but Djokovic will prove why he is the best player in the world of tennis on Sunday in the men’s final.
