LeBron James Video: Watch King James' Thunderous Dunk vs. New York

The New York Knicks have been a disappointing team this season, but Miami Heat star forward LeBron James had little sympathy for them on Friday night when he threw down this thunderous jam in the first quarter.

The Heat won the game 99-88 thanks to James' 31 points, two of them coming on this magnificent display of determination and athleticism.

The help defense is just atrocious from the Knicks on this play. Bill Walker is not a good one-on-one perimeter defender, so there has to be a help defender coming over as soon as the Heat star puts the ball on the floor.

James is already about to jump up to the rim and dunk the ball when Knicks power forward Jared Jeffries comes over to help Walker. By the time he helped, it was too late.

Gives James credit for not waiting and allowing the Knicks to send a double-team over to help Walker defend him. He recognized he had a matchup in his favor and took advantage of it, a smart play by an intelligent basketball player.

Heat guard Mike Miller did a very nice job of identifying the matchup of James versus Walker and gave the ball to LeBron right away. There is no way that Walker can stay with James in terms of strength in the post or on the perimeter with the Heat star's explosive quickness.

If the Knicks continue to put themselves in bad matchups such as this one, and don't do a good job of rotating over and providing help defense, they won't win enough games to make the playoffs. You cannot make these kinds of mistakes against good teams and expect to win consistently in the NBA.
