AC Milan Transfer News: Lopez Eagerly Waiting as Tevez Deadline Approaches
Maxi Lopez is one step closer to joining AC Milan as Carlos Tevez's agent has revealed that he could stay at Manchester City.
The Catania forward has been seen as a backup plan to his Argentine compatriot for the past couple months as AC Milan have expressed a lot of interest in another forward for their already star-studded attack: which features Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Alexandre Pato, Robinho, and Stephan El Shaarawy.
Milan have given City a warning that they have until Friday night to accept their offer for Tevez, but the players agent Kia Joorabchian has stated that his player will likely stay at Eastlands.

""We've been in negotiations with three big clubs but I don't think they have reached the figures Manchester City want. Carlos will remain at Man City until the summer. They [City] would like to move him on but only at a certain price.""
Tevez was placed on gardening leave after refusing to be used as a sub in City's Champions League clash with Bayern Munich in September. He has been at home in Argentina since November.
Lopez meanwhile has been working hard to gain recognition in the hope of returning to a big club after leaving Barcelona a few years ago. Once called the White Drogba, Lopez has made nine starts and five appearances as a sub this season for Catania, who are hovering around the mid-table. He has scored three times in Serie A and also picked up a goal in Catania's Coppa Italia match in November when they were eliminated by Novara.
The deadline with Tevez and City makes it seem like it won't happen and Milan are ready to move on Lopez. Lopez and his agent, Andrea D'Amico, have spent the last couple days with Milan and were sighted in the crowd during Milan's Coppa Italia Quarterfinal win over Lazio at the San Siro on Thursday.
Making the move seem even more likely is Fulham's failed bid the other day, as Catania directer Pietro Lo Monaco stated that a deal had been agreed between Milan and Catania and it all relied on what happens with Tevez.
Sometime this weekend, AC Milan should be unveiling a new player.
