Royal Rumble 2012: Things We Don't Want to See at the Rumble

Conchobhar O DochartaighJun 7, 2018

We've been through enough Rumbles now to know how they go, but they still surprise us every year. From shocking run-ins to twists and surprise results, it is rightly one of the best PPVs on the calendar.

Considering the longevity of this event, we also have a fair idea of what we don't want to happen. Here are five things I really do not want to see.

Holding on to the Bottom Rope

1 of 6

This is cowardly from a wrestling perspective and boring from an entertainment perspective. It doesn't even build heat, as people want to see things actually, well, you know, happening.

I know it must be hard trying to keep the action moving with 10 other people in the ring, but this is just a lack of imagination.

The Big Red Death Grip

2 of 6

This move adds nothing to the match. OK, it is a massive heel move and fits Kane's dark persona, but it really is boring. It's practically impossible to get out of, as it is so overwhelming. I know this may seem like a moot point, but it isn’t realistic. It's almost too strong.

Kevin Nash

No.

Cena Coming Through and "Doing the Right Thing"

4 of 6

This is a huge PPV, arguably the second-biggest of the year. The perfect time for Cena to make his heel turn. He should turn on Ryder, ditch the Jimmies, listen to Reign in Blood and embrace the dark side with a vengeance...and also with Kane.

WWE may get cold feet, however, and risk alienating the younger fans for whom Cena is still the biggest draw. Yet with the gradual, but noticeable shift that we have seen lately towards slightly less PG content, it could be happening...

Brodus Clay Winning

5 of 6

I can agree that the gimmick is good fun and is a nice change of pace, but let's be realistic; Brodus Clay is nowhere near ready. His character is still getting cheap pops and doing really, really boring squash matches.

Put him in a good feud with someone. Or better yet, team him up with someone completely humorless, and we know there's no shortage of those on the roster. Jinder Mahal would be perfect for it.

Triple H Coming Back and Winning

6 of 6

Triple H is a good wrestler and pretty much part of the furniture at this point. Well-respected by the fans and wrestlers, he is a key part of the company.

I would love to see him come back at the Rumble, but I hope he doesn't win. No disrespect to him, but he doesn't need another title run.
