Super Bowl Predictions 2012: 4 Prop Bets That Are Stone Cold Locks

Eric BallJun 7, 2018

Tis’ the season to make stupid prop bets falalala, lalala.

Nothing is a better topic of conversation at a Super Bowl party than discussing your thought process on why you think the Gatorade dumped on the winning coach is blue. Or how about last year’s National Anthem debacle with Christina Aguilera that screwed up the total time of her anthem?

Prop bets in the Super Bowl are a blast to do and this year there are three that stand out as bets you could actually win. That’s because they’re in-game bets that have to do with the actual game. Follow my advice and you can be the guy at the party who actually makes some money on the big game by using some legit logic.

Will a Team Score 3 Unanswered Times? Yes -220, No +180

These teams are incredibly evenly matched. The Pats have Tom Brady and the Giants have the pass rush to stop him. The Giants have Eli Manning, and the Patriots have one of the most brilliant head coaches of all-time to stop him.

It’s a great value bet and one where you can feel extremely comfortable about, yet it’s a bet that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. It didn’t happen in the Giants 24-20 win during the regular season and it’s not going to happen on Super Bowl Sunday.

Will a Point Be Scored in First Six Minutes of The Game? Yes -115, No -115

The Patriots' rickety O-Line has been better recently, but it’s going to take time to adjust to a Giants front four that is finally healthy and causing absolute chaos in the postseason. I think the Pats will fail to score in their first two possessions as Tom Brady adjusts to the incredible speed coming at him.

The Giants have been getting off to slow starts recently. They didn’t score in the first quarter of the 49ers win and didn’t score against the Packers until almost nine minutes had gone off the clock.

For whatever reason, the Giants get off to sluggish starts, which work out perfectly for this bet.

Who Will Win The Super Bowl MVP? Aaron Hernandez 15/1

Hernandez is a great value pick that has a leg up on his buddy and fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski who is banged up and will be less than 100 percent. The Pats have been mum on the injury which means it may be pretty serious.

Hernandez received the third most targets during the regular season and has had more than a few games where he was the star.

With the defense keying in on Wes Welker and Gronk, expect Hernandez to be the difference maker.

The First Score of the Game will be? Touchdown -190, Field Goal or Safety +155

Sure the Pats have a quick strike offense, but it’s the Super Bowl and nerves are going to be running at a fast and furious pace.

Week 9 of the regular season found the Giants scoring first with a field goal, in a game that featured three field goals made on four attempts.
