Notre Dame Football Recruiting: Adding Top-Flight WR Will Give Irish Elite Class

Brian Kelly already pulled a rabbit—actually two—out of a hat for the 2012 Notre Dame recruiting class.

Landing quarterback Gunner Kiel as an early enrollee not only shocked the recruiting nation, but gave the Irish an entirely different look for next season.

Stealing back former recruit Amir Carlisle in a transfer from USC will also go a long way for this program, and they're still in the hunt for a number of talented and highly recruited players.

A lot of their class includes speedy athletes on the outside on both sides of the ball. They already have two four-star, ESPNU 150 wide receivers committed in Justin Ferguson and Deontay Greenberry and are still in the running for more.

Five-star athlete Davonte Neal and 4-star receiver Nelson Agholor are still heavily considering the Irish.

The race for Neal is going to be tough, though. He's smaller at 5'10", 175 pounds and is also heavily considering Ohio State. With Urban Meyer in the house, there is no denying that he will be excited about playing in and offense that has done so much with smaller players.

Neal is a dynamic playmaker with the ball in his hands, and if he chooses South Bend over Columbus, it would be an upset.

Agholor is more of a legitimate possibility, but they're battling with Trojans at Southern California for him (big surprise) as well as with Florida State.

The Irish have already locked down one USC transfer this year, though (Amir Carlisle), and that could end up working in their favor. The work Brian Kelly is doing is paying dividends immediately even after the recruits go somewhere else.

Notre Dame is in good hands with their coach, and adding another set of good hands could make this class truly elite.

Look for the Irish to push hard until signing day, and don't be surprised if they land one more top recruit on the outside.
