WWE Monday Night Raw 1/23/12 Results: Chris Jericho Speaks for the First Time

Following his epic return to the WWE at the beginning of this month on January 2nd, Chris Jericho had almost taken a vow of silence like a monk when appearing on WWE television until speaking his first words tonight.

In yet another strange segment with Y2J Monday night, Jericho started his “Highlight Reel” segment by going to the back and grabbing an air cannon that shoots t-shirts into the crowd as he toyed with the crowd in attendance at the US Airways Center.

After that quick ordeal, Y2J pointed to the screen that was placed in the ring that began playing a video of the greatest accomplishments during Jericho’s career in the WWE since his arrival to the company in 1999.

Following the video, we return to a smiling Chris Jericho who utters the first words since his return saying,” This Sunday at the Royal Rumble, it’s going to be the end of the world…as you know it.”

With being a Jericho fan since his days in WCW through his time with the WWE, I think this gimmick that Y2J is putting on over the past few weeks and tonight has been a great storyline for the WWE as fans have went from cheering to getting tired of him without him saying a word on Raw.

As for this Sunday, I think most believe that Jericho will win the Royal Rumble match and go on to challenge CM Punk for the WWE Championship at WrestleMania which I can say will be a great main event on top of the Rock and John Cena this April.
