Billy Cundiff: Ravens Kicker Secures Spot in NFL Infamy with Epic Fail

Baltimore Ravens kicker Billy Cundiff will go down in NFL infamy with one of the most embarrassing and ill-timed shanked field goals in the history of football. 

This is the memory that will haunt Cundiff for the rest of his life. This is the chance that the Ravens may never get back.

He absolutely shattered the hopes and dreams of Ravens fans all over the globe, while simultaneously propelling the New England Patriots to yet another Super Bowl.

All he had to do was make a 32-yard field goal.

To be fair, it was in no-way routine given the circumstances and everything that was at stake, but there is no doubting that it was a make-able kick for a player who was in the Pro Bowl last season.

Down 23-20 all he had to do was make it, and at the very least the Ravens would have had the chance to win the game in overtime.

At the very least they would have had the chance.

Cundiff dropped his head in shame, and the Ravens sideline looked on in what can only be described as stunned horror as the kick was shanked wide-left.

Twitter exploded and the cameras panned over the two very contrasting sidelines. 

It's a moment that fanbases of both teams will never forget, but for two very different reasons.

Brady and the Patriots got the ball back and proceeded to take the all-familiar victory formation, and just like that they secured their place in the Super Bowl with a 23-20 win.

The Ravens stared off into space with glossy looks in their eyes. So close yet so far.

While the storylines in this game are many and it comes down to far more than a missed field goal, that ball flailing to the left of the uprights will always be the lasting image from this game.

Fair or not, Cundiff will be the scapegoat for any problem the Ravens organization will face for years to come. 

He will be hated by Ravens fans and mocked by all other fanbases.

Even though his coach and teammates will support him, they will all know deep in their hearts that he cost them their chance.
