If there's anything we've learned from the first week at the 2012 Australian Open, it's that age is just a number, at least for the best of the best in tennis.
Two thirds of the aging "Trivalry"—Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal—has already advanced to the quarterfinals. Federer easily dispatched up-and-comer Bernard Tomic while Nadal nailed fellow Spaniard Feliciano Lopez in three sets.
Neither of those two has yet dropped a single set on the way to the quarterfinals.
On the women's side, defending champion Kim Clijsters advanced to the quarters with an "upset" of fifth-seed Li Na. Next up, Clijsters will face top-seeded Caroline Wozniacki, who dispatched Jelena Jankovic in straight sets on Sunday.
Monday's slate is shaping up to be a star-studded affair. The men's field features matches between No. 1 Novak Djokovic and native Aussie Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Murray and a young Mikhail Kukushkin, and Spaniard David Ferrer and Frenchman Richard Gasquet, and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Kei Nishikori.
As for the women, Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Petra Kvitova are all slated to take to the courts at Melbourne Park on Monday.
Coverage begins at 7 p.m. EST on the Tennis Channel and continues from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. and from 3:30 a.m. to 6 a.m. EST on ESPN2. DirecTV subscribers can also catch every match through the Australian Open Experience.
