Arsenal vs. Manchester United Score: Man U Continue to Dominate Premier League

Luis BatlleJun 7, 2018

Against Arsenal, Manchester United continues on strong.

After what was a stalemate first half between Man U and Arsenal, with a goal for Man U in the closing minutes, the team took care of business in the second half and held on to their three points.

In spite of still ranking No. 2 in the Premier League, Manchester United are easily the hottest team through 22 games this season.

Man U has won three of its last four matches against all competition and its last two games in the Premier League. Dating back to December, the team is an impressive 6-2 in its last eight matches in league play.

The 2-1 victory over Arsenal showed a resiliency that will proves this team will be an especially difficult team to take down heading into the final stretch of the season.

After Arsenal was able to tie the game with a second-half Van Persie goal—his 19th of the season—Man U fought back and were rewarded with an 81st minute Danny Welbeck goal.

What makes Manchester United such a difficult team to compete with is their balanced, explosive attack up front. The team features playmakers like Wayne Rooney, Welbeck and Antonio Valencia that are constantly putting insurmountable pressure on an opposing defense.

Dimitar Berbatov and Rooney lead the team in goals this season, combining for an impressive 19 goals this season. Rooney has netted 13 of the 19 goals on the season.

Yet what separates this team from Manchester City, and will give them the better chance down the stretch, is their tough defense on the road. Man U have allowed just seven goals on the road all season, easily the fewest goals allowed on the road by any team in the league this season.

With games against Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur on the road ahead, it will be imperative for this Man U club to bring their dynamic attack and sound road defense to the table. The 2-1 victory over Arsenal in the team's most recent outing was also on the road.

If the team can maintain success in each of these areas, there is no question this will be as difficult a team as any to overcome going forward.
