NFL Playoff Bracket 2012: Which Conference Championship Team Had Hardest Road?

Ryan AlfieriJun 7, 2018

When you look at the teams that remain, many of them had relatively easy roads to the Conference Championship games. New England just had to beat an 8-8 Broncos team at home. The Ravens were lucky enough to face a third-string quarterback in their building. The 49ers did have quite the epic win against perhaps the hottest team in the NFL in New Orleans, but I would give the nod to the New York Giants as the team that has had the hardest road to where they are now.

The biggest reason why the Giants' road has been so difficult is because they have been essentially playing playoff games since early in December. Since their horrid performance against the Redskins at home, they strung together an impressive number of wins against quality teams to punch their ticket to the playoffs.

From there, they handled the Falcons at home, coming just a safety away from shutting them out and completely dominating the game from start to finish.

The Giants were then given the daunting task of facing the defending champion Green Bay Packers, who had lost just one road game all season. The final score was a bit deceiving, as the Giants were actually even better than the 17-point margin they ended up winning by.

When you combine all of these factors, plus the fact that they are the only team left that did not get a first-round bye, the Giants have clearly traveled the toughest road of any remaining team.
