Arsenal vs. Manchester United: Streaking Reds Will Blast by Gunners

Patrick ClarkeJun 7, 2018

Manchester United looked overwhelming in its last outing against Arsenal back in August. The Reds' 8-2 advantage was not only decisive but embarrassing.

Wayne Rooney and streaking United will experience more of the same in the second go-around.

The two Premier League powerhouses meet again on Sunday in a pivotal matchup at Emirates Stadium in England (11:00 EST).ย Both teams are in the top five of the league table heading into the rematch.

However, one side is much hotter than the other, and it has nothing to do with the 8-2 result at Old Trafford back on August 28.ย

Manchester United has won two straight matches, and four straight away from home, where they will be on Sunday.

United's Wayne Rooney netted a hat trick the last time the two teams met and is the squad's leading goal scorer with 13 overall.

Rooney will take center stage on Sunday afternoon as one of the more proven and feared threats out there. Rooney has scored six goals in his last six matches against Arsenal.

Manchester City's win over Tottenham earlier Sunday means that United is slightly farther behind City in the league table. Added motivation for an already scary squad.

The Gunners were completely out-matched the first time around with United, and although adjustments have been made and the home crowd offers up more support than the crowd does on the road, their defense has some progress left to make.

Their last outing was a pathetic defeat to Swansea City, 3-2 away. The Gunners are 1-2 in 2012 and have looked disinterested at times.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger's last-ditch effort to label the season a "disaster" if the club falls short of the Champions League is all the more reason United will win easy on Sunday.
