NBA Rumors: PG Deron Williams Will Thrive by Staying Put with New Jersey Nets
New Jersey Nets point guard Deron Williams has easily been the one major source of trade talks outside of Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard.
Yet, it might just be in the best interest of the All-Star PG to stay put in New Jersey for the better part of his career.
A rumor reported by ESPNย had Williams with the Nets as a first option, but also wishing to possibly play with the Dallas Mavericks, New York Knicks and Los Angeles Lakers.ย

Yet this same rumor has been put to rest by the very source that hasย accumulatedย the non-stop trade talks, as the New York Timesย reported that Williams continues to deny the rumors surrounding his name and trade talks.
"โWe play Oklahoma City (Saturday night), right," Williams said. "Weโve got Russell Westbrook (Saturday night), Kevin Durant and Co.?โ
"
Williams would also make a comment on sources, as it was clear he doesn't entertain the rumors.
โDid you hear it from me," Williams said. "We donโt need to talk about it then,โ he said. โAnother one of these sources. Sources. I donโt know who sources are.โ
Williams is not only a great talent at the point guard position, but one that has proven that with enough talent around him, he is a player that can lead a team to the NBA playoffs.
The top-talent PG was able to lead hisย mediocre Utahย Jazz team to four consecutive postseason appearances. Not to mention, in three of those four postseason appearances Williams has scored at least 20 points and dished out 10 assists.
His ability to lead a team to the postseason is a unique quality in starting point guards in the league today.
Bringing in a player like Howard after the 2012 season could be the one player that immediately takes the Nets from a bottom-five team to an NBA championship contender.
In spite of the different stories surrounding Deron Williams, the All-Star has to be intelligent and make the decision to stay in New Jersey. Combining talents with Howard or another top-notch talent could take the Nets from pretender to contender as quick as the snap of a finger.
