Ravens vs. Patriots: Predicting the Game's Top Defensive Performances
When looking at the matchups for this game, the Ravens really play into the strengths of the Patriots on both sides of the ball.
It is usually hard to predict that any member of the New England Patriots, especially in the secondary, is primed for a good performance, but Devin McCourty is set for a big day.
I would expect the Patriots to play a lot of man coverage against the Ravens receivers that have yet to prove that they can beat man coverage. He will probably draw coverage from Anquan Boldin, who makes a few spectacular catches from time to time, but really as a hard time getting open.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The elementary route combinations of the Ravens does not make it any easier on these receivers. For some reason or another, Cam Cameron does not employ route concepts like rubs or bunches, which are typical "man-beaters."
Another player for the Patriots that is set for a big day is Sean Ellis. He will probably be lined up against Michael Oher, who has struggled mightily in pass protection. Ellis is a shadow of his former self, but if there was ever a chance for Ellis to show up big, today may be his best shot.
If Baltimore is going to have a prayer of slowing down the Patriots offense, it will be on Terrell Suggs. He will face an offensive line that has neutralized some very good pass-rushers, but Chuck Pagano specializes in setting up his defensive linemen against favorable matchups, such as against a running back or tight end.
If Suggs can find a way to capitalize on his opportunities, it may very well be the difference in the game.
Otherwise, the Ravens really do not have a lot of favorable matchups when they line up against the Patriots. Their secondary is bound to struggle with all of the Patriots' weapons, and getting to Brady will be anything but an easy task.
Simply put, the Ravens' stars are going to have to show up and play their best game on the biggest stage to punch their ticket to Indianapolis.
