Mayweather vs. Pacquiao: Miguel Cotto Is a Poor Replacement for Floyd Mayweather
Well, we didn't get what we were all waiting for—again. With a possibility of a Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather fight finally looking like a possibility, it seems as if Pac-Man's next bout may just be against Miguel Cotto for the second time.
This result would most definitely have fans upset, keeping them from once again seeing the fight for which they have all been waiting.
According to Michael Woods of ESPN.com, if things hold true, it appears that he will indeed be taking on Cotto for his next fight.
Pacquiao recently defeated Juan Manuel Marquez in their second battle, having many hoping that he will finally get in the ring with his long-time rival.
It will remain to be seen who he chooses to fight, but Pacquiao may just decide to avoid the potential headache that Mayweather is.
In recent reports, Mayweather supposedly suggested that he receive the majority of the purse, while Pac-Man logically suggested that they split it 50-50.
While Mayweather is undefeated, there is no denying that both fighters have equally big names. Who knows if this was tactic by Mayweather to make Pacquiao back out of the event, or if his ego is so big that he believes he deserves more?
Instead of all the drama, fans are likely going to get a rematch of Pacquiao-Cotto, a fight in which Pacquiao won in the 12th round.
We will have to see what comes of these events, but in all likelihood, we will all be waiting even longer for this potential fight.
If it even ever happens.
