WWE Royal Rumble 2012: Will John Cena vs Kane Exceed Expectations?

John Cena and Kane have been embroiled in a bitter feud which has seen the Big Red Monster get the better of Cena week after week.

Kane's goal has been to make Cena "embrace the hate" as he puts it. This past Monday Kane said we got to see Cena's first step towards that goal by giving Jack Swagger a brutal beating which nearly ended with Swagger being sandwiched between two sets of ring steps.

Some people think this is the first step towards a heel turn for Cena while others think there is no chance that Cena will turn heel since he is too valuable as a face of the company, especially to kids.

Considering The Rock is likely to get the better ovation at WrestleMania it is not out of the realm of possibility that they would have Cena go into the match a heel.

That is not important right now though, what is important is that in seven days we will see the confrontation between Kane and Cena we have been waiting for.

Cena is a great performer in big match situations and with Kane being an experienced veteran of PPV encounters I think this match may surprise everyone and be a great contest.

Kane has been out of rotation for quite some time and judging by the looks of him I would say he is in better shape than he has been in a long time. This combined with the two men both being power houses could make for an exciting contest.

Given the events of the past several weeks I think it is safe to say this won't be a wrestling clinic, it will be a knock-down drag-out war. Frankly, I am surprised this match was not given some kind of stipulation seeing as they are in a very personal rivalry.

It is always possible things could change between now and The Rumble next Sunday.

It would also be interesting if either of these men ended up competing in the Rumble match itself that night as it is not uncommon for people to have a match and be in the Rumble that night.

I think a lot of so called "wrestling purists" will trash this match before it even happens, but WWE is not the place where every match is a pure wrestling match. Sometimes they have two guys who just need to beat the crap out of each other.

I am looking forward to this match because I am a fan of both Kane and Cena and I think the two of them could work well together.
