WWE SmackDown Preview: Another World Title Match, Roulette, McIntyre and More

Kyle SchadlerJun 7, 2018

From Las Vegas, Nevada, WWE presents Sin City SmackDown.

Most of the time when WWE heads to Las Vegas, it is Monday Night Raw that gets the venue, but this time around the Blue Brand will be heading for Sin City.

The company has confirmed two matches for the show, but there a few other things to consider going into Friday night.

Will Raw Roulette Become SmackDown Roulette?

Raw Roulette first appeared in 2002, when then-general manager Eric Bischoff introduced the concept.

Throughout the years the roulette wheel has appeared five times, with the most recent being on the June 27th edition of Raw.

The wheel is spun to determine a wrestler’s opponent or a match’s stipulation.

Every time Raw has appeared in Las Vegas the wheel has been present.

Now that Friday Night SmackDown is in the Entertainment Capital of the World, will the roulette wheel make a return?

A Health Update on AJ; Will Big Show Explain His Side of the Story?

Last week an unfortunate event occurred.

During a no disqualification, World Heavyweight Championship match between champion Daniel Bryan and the Big Show, the World’s Largest Athlete mowed down the much smaller A.J. Lee.

From the reaction and emotion shown on Big Show’s face, it was truly an accident on his part.

Some people think that Bryan intentionally led Big Show towards A.J.’s knowing that he wouldn’t be able to turn so quick with his size.

Will Big Show be present to give his view on what happened?

This past Monday on Raw, Daniel Bryan said that A.J. “would never be the same again.”

That’s not exactly a health update, so will the fans get a proper one this Friday?

Sheamus vs. Wade Barrett

When Christian went down with an injury in November, Sheamus was left with nothing to do.

For the next two months, "The Great White" mowed down various SmackDown and Raw superstars. In doing so, he has become quite the dominate force.

There has not been anyone on the roster able to take down the Irish superstar. That is, until now.

Wade Barrett had been feuding with Randy Orton for a few months, but when the Viper went down with an injury three weeks ago, the Barrett Barrage was left with nothing to do.

With their original opponents out of commission, these two superstars have started to butt heads and they will go one-on-one in Sin City.

With both superstars eyeing victory at the Royal Rumble, will the Great White Sheamus devour Barrett or can the Barrett Barrage stop the dominating Irishman?

Will Drew McIntyre Finally be Fired or Will He Get Another Chance?

Three weeks ago Drew McIntyre returned to Friday Night SmackDown, but general manager Teddy Long questioned his use on the blue brand and booked him in a match to prove himself.

If the Scottish superstar won, then he could stay on SmackDown but if he lost, then he could be fired.

McIntyre went on to face Ezekiel Jackson later on in the night and lost the match.

Two weeks ago, Long gave him another shot as he faced Santino Marella. The Cobra would pick up the victory making McIntyre’s future on SmackDown very questionable.

Later on in the show in a backstage segment, Teddy Long said he would give McIntyre one more chance and he blew it when he lost to Ted DiBiase last week.

Will Teddy Long give him yet another shot or is this it for Drew McIntyre?

Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry: World Heavyweight Championship

For the third week in a row, SmackDown will be headlined with Daniel Bryan defending his World Heavyweight Championship.

For the past two weeks he has had to face the Big Show and retained his title both times in questionable fashions.

Despite the questionable victories, Bryan now seems to be done with the World’s Largest Athlete.

Now he must deal with the World’s Strongest Man, though.

At the Tables, Ladders and Chairs pay-per-view, Mark Henry lost the world title to the Big Show, who then lost it to Daniel Bryan after he cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on a stricken Show.

Big Show has received two rematches, but now it is time for Henry to receive his chance at redemption.

Can Mark Henry induct the champion into the Hall of Pain and win the title, or can Daniel Bryan manage to retain the belt once again?

Sin City SmackDown is looking quite good.

Will it be? Place your bets and tune in to find out!
