National Signing Day 2012: Arik Armstead Smart to Delay Decision
Arik Amstead has finally made a decision...to make a decision on February 1. I applaud him and his parents for taking this approach, as the young man is embarking on the biggest decision of his life so far, and there is no need to rush.
As of two days ago, Whitney Blaine had reported Armstead would hold off on his decision until today, January 19. He was said to be mulling over going to either Auburn or Notre Dame, with Oregon being the dark horse in this race.
The biggest thing Amstead needs to decide is whether or not to play with his big brother, who transferred out of USC after last year.
The 16th-ranked prospect admits this decision has been stressful.
""Most definitely." Arik said. "Different loops, twists and things to go through. It's too gut wrenching so I'll take more time to decide. There's a lot of stuff to think about. This is the biggest decision of my life."
"
Sounds like he's got a good head on his shoulders, and I'm sure his brother and parents are helping him make this wise decision to take a deep breath.
I still believe Notre Dame is the best landing spot for Armstead after Lopoi left California. Not only could the Irish offer him a chance to start early, but he'd be an instant upgrade for them on the hardwood as well.
Whichever school he ends up choosing, at least we know he's taking a measured approach, weighing all his options. He's already further along than many.
