WWE Royal Rumble 2012 Preview: Could Christian Return in Time to Win the Rumble?

Christian has been out with an ankle injury for the past several weeks, but his return is not far off, and one can't help but wonder if WWE will be able to put him back in the mix at the Royal Rumble.

Christian's return would certainly be a nice surprise if he was able to return at the Rumble, but an even nicer surprise for all the peeps out there would be a Rumble win for Captain Charisma.

Christian is one of WWE's longer-tenured wrestlers, and he has had the greatest success in his career since returning to WWE.

A Rumble win would solidify his status as a main event star in WWE as well as throw him right back in the hunt for the title.

It is no secret that Christian has never been thought of as someone who could lead the company, but he could be the top heel if booked right. What has always bothered me about Christian as a heel is WWE always books him to be a cowardly heel.

Edge, Randy Orton, Sheamus and Wade Barrett can at least claim they will punch you in the face instead of hit you from behind on most occasions, but Christian is always booked to look weak.

This is part of the reason I did not like it when he turned heel, I feel he is far more effective as a face. His reputation has built him a large fan base and he always gets a nice pop when he is a face.

Having Christian win the Rumble would also allow him to main event WrestleMania and possibly gain back his World Title.

I do not like to trust rumors which is why I am not counting on this, but I do hope WWE has more than one or two surprises up their sleeves for the Rumble.

With rumors of Randy Orton and Rey Mysterio returning in the 30-man battle royal it would only serve to add to the excitement if Christian was able to return as well.

I know a Rumble victory may not be likely, but it would be deserved and surprising.
