Dwight Howard Trade Rumors: D12 Denies Interest in Los Angeles Clippers
Another day, another update on the Dwight Howard trade front.
Apparently, all that talk about the Orlando Magic center including the Los Angeles Clippers on his list of preferred destinations was premature. According to a report from the Orlando Sentinel, Howard denies having interest in the Clippers.
"Magic General Manager Otis Smith said Howard's camp has not informed him that the superstar center has expanded his list of preferred destinations beyond the Dallas Mavericks, the Los Angeles Lakers and the New Jersey Nets.
Smith also said the Magic also have not granted permission to Howard's agent to speak with any teams in addition to the Mavericks, Lakers and Nets.
"
Have we reached the point where anything we hear out of Howard's mouth should be taken with a grain of salt? He could have put an end to all of this by not saying that he wanted to go anywhere.
All he had to say was that he was a member of the Orlando Magic, which he tried to do in this latest report, and be done with it. Instead, he had to let the world know that he would welcome a trade to a select few teams.
Adding the Clippers to his shortlist of teams made a lot of sense for Howard. They have arguably the best point guard in the NBA, Blake Griffin is a dunking machine, like Howard, and adding him to the mix would make them one of the most exciting teams in the league.
It would not make sense for the Clippers because their roster is so thin already, and it would only get worse dealing for Howard.
It is impossible for Howard to avoid the media—not that he would want to—but when he does have to speak, he should stop talking about anything involving his future. He needs to keep his eyes focused on the task directly in front of him.
