NBA Rumors: Stephen Curry Shouldn't Play Tonight Against Kyrie Irving

Stephen Curry shouldn't try to play tonight against the Cleveland Cavaliers and rookie point guard Kyrie Irving.

Curry is frustrated these days. He's itching to get back onto the court for the Golden State Warriors, but his ankle injury lingers. 

He said as much yesterday afternoon in an interview with Marcus Thompson of the Bay Area News Group:

I’m tired of missing games. I said I was going to wait, but I didn’t say how long I was going to wait.

"

Who can blame him? After the lockout, he was thrilled to get back to playing ball after spending the summer in school. You can check out this video he sent out to fans when the ban was lifted.

Then, the ankle. Ankle injuries are for basketball players what hamstrings are for football players. They can be the most nagging of all the injuries, because the NBA is a game of quickness and agility. You have to be able to cut fast and hard, on both offense and defense, and ankle injuries make this exceedingly difficult.

Irving is having a phenomenal rookie campaign and has shown the ability to get by NBA guards on a consistent basis when he's got the ball. 

Curry needs to listen to wisdom and have a bit more patience. If he tries to go tonight against the Cavaliers he is likely to re injure his gimpy ankle trying to keep up with the rookie out of Duke.

The Warriors will need Curry to be healthy down the home stretch if they hope to make it into the NBA postseason. If he comes back too soon and irritates that ankle any more, they will continue to struggle without him as they have been doing since he was injured in the first place.
