UNC Basketball: Embarrassed Tar Heels Have No Time To Sulk

The UNC Tar Heels not only suffered their worst loss of the Roy Williams era three days ago against Florida State, but they left behind five of their men with 14.2 seconds to go in the game.

The communication breakdown between Williams and his assistant coach falls squarely on his shoulders and he's already acknowledged that and apologized.

The coach wasn't out of line by trying to get his players and staff to safety before the mass of red clad students swarmed the court, but he should have been the one to make sure everyone was on the same page about that.

That said, nobody wearing Tar Heel blue has to sulk.

UNC is back on the road again Thursday night in Blacksburg to take on the Virginia Tech Hokies.

Although Tech has lost their first three ACC games, they've done so by less than four points in each,  including a four-point loss to Florida State.

The Tar Heels are one of the most talented teams in the country and feature arguably the most dominating front line.

The No. 8 team in the land is first in points scored, first in rebounds and fourth in assists. It is unheard of for them to shoot 37 percent from the field and only 19 percent from beyond the arc.

With Duke, Virginia and Maryland all turning in strong seasons so far, the Tar Heels cannot afford to let a 33-point loss derail them.

When they take the court at the Cassell Coliseum, they need to wipe the Florida State debacle clear from their mind.

If they don't, they'll have a lot more to worry about.
