WWE Raw: Is This the End of Interim Raw General Manager John Laurinaitis?

Kyle SchadlerJan 16, 2012

There was quite a bit about Raw that I didn’t like.

There was one thing, though, that kept me on the edge of my seat.

As CM Punk and Mick Foley celebrated their victory in the ring, John Laurinaitis made his way out.

He awarded the match to the heels since Foley wasn’t legally in the match.

Punk then grabbed a mic and proceeded to drop a pipe bomb.

Punk said that Laurinaitis doesn’t like Punk because he’s something Laurinaitis never was—a star. The people don’t know who he is.

Laurinaitis had the look, but he sucked. His brother accomplished a lot as Road Warrior Animal, but he amounted to nothing.

He was boring and went from sucking to sucking up. Punk achieved more in a year than Laurinaitis did in his whole life.

No matter the outcome at the Royal Rumble, Punk will still be better than Laurinaitis.

If Laurinaitis screws him, Punk will get fans talking about him for the first time in his career because Punk will kick his ass.

He had wound up for a punch and Laurinaitis flinched. Punk walked out and Laurinaitis picked up a mic and declared that he wasn’t pathetic. He won’t be intimidated by Punk.

Foley grabbed a mic and wanted Laurinaitis to admit that he was going to screw Punk.

Laurinaitis admitted that he will, in fact, screw Punk at the Royal Rumble then hit Foley with the mic.

Now that was pure entertainment right there.

Punk hasn’t delivered a great promo like that in a while and it was very refreshing.

Laurinaitis was even good on the mic despite stumbling a bit. He really got over as a heel here.

Foley did his job as an instigator perfectly as well.

The one thing that really impressed me here was the major defiance from Punk and Laurinaitis’ reaction to it.

Not since Steve Austin screwed with Vince McMahon has a superstar defied an authority figure like that.

Punk not only defied his boss but he embarrassed him.

Laurinaitis has never shown that Punk was getting to him until tonight.

Mr. Excitement actually showed some emotion in the ring after Punk left and outright admitted to Mick Foley, the WWE Universe and the board of directors who were no doubt watching, that he fully planned on screwing CM Punk out of the title at the Royal Rumble.

That begs the question, what will be the status of John Laurinaitis come next week’s Raw?

The board of directors assigned Laurinaitis to the job of interim general manager of Raw because they felt that he would be unbiased and be able to run things without a hitch.

Punk has proved to be quite the hitch for Laurinaitis.

The powers that be had to have been watching tonight’s show. That would mean they heard their general manager being biased when he openly said that he planned to screw Punk out of the title.

Not only that, but Laurinaitis struck a WWE Legend. That may not go over well for Laurinaitis’ bosses.

Will John Laurinaitis be the general manager of Raw next week?

Will the board of directors wait until the Royal Rumble to make a decision?

I suppose we’ll just have to wait and see.

Should the board of directors relieve him of his duties or wait it out until the Rumble?

Leave your thoughts down in the comments below.
