Will it be Stanford, Oregon, Florida or USC for 5-Star OT Kyle Murphy?

Randy ChambersJan 16, 2012

With the recruiting process currently taking up the majority of the college football news these next few months, it's time to begin focusing on some of the top recruits and where they will likely end up.

Offensive tackle Kyle Murphy is one of those recruits that hasn't made a decision quite yet. In fact, he's still making his official visits, as he is making his fourth official visit to USC next weekend. With the Trojans likely being the last school he'll visit, the question now is, where will he commit to?

The schools on the list are Oregon, Florida, USC and Stanford.

The first school Murphy visited was Oregon, and although they have a very talented team, the recent losses of their star running back and starting quarterback may hurt that decision. They also don't exactly have a great offensive line to pair him up with.

The same thing goes for USC, except for the fact that he left the Trojans last on his list. That doesn't exactly scream that he was extremely interested in the program.

Florida was one of the first schools he visited, but would a California boy really leave for a school down south? If you noticed all of the schools he's interested in, three of the four are in the West Coast area. The Gators have a great program and are racking in top recruits, but I'm not so sure he'll end up leaving that far away from home.

And then there is the school that Murphy recently visited, which of course is Stanford. The top offensive tackle is as much interested in the academics as he is in the football side of things, and that's the reason I have him becoming a Cardinal. Here are a few things he said about his recent visit to Stanford.

"

I got to talk with a professor, he was in management science- engineering...it's kind of a combination of engineering and economics, so that was pretty interesting to me because there were a couple of majors I was looking at in engineering, maybe economics or like business, so it's a good combination of both of them.

"

Stanford isn't that far from his home in San Clemente, Calif., they provide a top-notch education and the recent success they've had with offensive linemen is incredible. He'll also be teamed up with one of the top centers in this year's class in Graham Shuler.

There was even a rumor that he had already committed to Stanford. While it was later proved that this was not true, many expect that it's only a matter of time before his commitment to Stanford is officially announced.

Murphy is one of the top offensive tackles in this year's class at 6'7", 268 pounds, and will be a huge addition for the Stanford Cardinal for the next few years.
