WWE Monday Night Raw: The Tag Team Division's Rebirth Continues with New Champs

It's rare for a WWE title to change hands at a house show, in fact, rare is an understatement.  

Unfortunately for Air Boom, it was a blue moon in Oakland, with Epico and Primo defeating them to become the WWE Tag Team Champions.

Little more than a month ago, it appeared that Kofi Kingston and Evan Bourne were meant to be the baby faces that carried the titles through WWE's attempt to breathe new life into their tag team division.  

However, a WWE Wellness Policy violation led to Bourne's 30-day suspension, and there's been no shortage of controversy surrounding the situation, even after he returned. 

It seems that the backstage politics have effectively put the kibosh on Air Boom's run in the tag team division.  After weeks of being a non-factor on WWE Raw, they've lost the WWE Tag Team Championship at a house show.

During a WWE Live Event at Oakland’s Oracle Center, Primo & Epico beat Kofi Kingston & Evan Bourne to capture the WWE Tag Team Championship. Kingston & Bourne held the titles since Aug. 22, 2011.

It's a safe bet to predict that Evan and Kofi will be jobbing to the new champions, and then new contenders soon enough.

Although it's a shame that Air Boom is no longer flying high, it's relieving that WWE has made the move to put the titles on a team that isn't in the dog house so the division is no longer in limbo.  

I believe that the rebirth of the tag team division is something that WWE is taking seriously in 2012.

Moving past Air Boom is a clear sign that the higher-ups in the company intend to pick up the pieces of a tag team division that has been neglected for too long.
