WWE: 7 Ways Zack Ryder and Eve Can Help Each Other's Careers

OK, so it's the most unlikely onscreen pairing since Michelle McCool and Chuck Palumbo. And Zack Ryder is clearly never going to get a job with AAA judging by how long it takes him to change a tire. And the wooden Eve has all the dramatic acting skills of someone out of The Room.

But despite its glaring flaws, the current romance angle on Monday Night Raw between current US Champion Zack Ryder and WWE Diva Eve Torres has bundles of potential in terms of aiding both of their careers in WWE. Even if the angle itself (which sees the geeky Ryder try to woo the gorgeous Eve, while the monster Kane attempts to make his life a misery) isn't everyone's cup of tea.

Don't believe us? Well here are just some of the reasons why we think this current romance angle can help out both Ryder and Eve...

The Current Storyline Helps Eve's Status in WWE

Over the past year, former Diva Search Winner Eve has struggled on Raw as she played second fiddle to Kelly Kelly while the latter feuded for the Divas Championship and had a lengthy feud with Beth Phoenix.

Indeed, despite Eve's looks, athletic skills and undeniable charisma, WWE have always seemed reluctant to go all the way with the former NBA dancer, or give her the airtime she deserves. 

Until this storyline, that is. Indeed, ever since the geeky, awkward Ryder became infatuated with Eve and attempted to ask her out (she was reluctant at first, but seems to be coming around), she has been given a far more high profile on WWE's flagship show. She's actually getting far more airtime than current Divas Champion Beth Phoenix, who hasn't been seen in weeks.  

Notably, on last week's Raw, she was heavily featured in the main event angle as Kane stalked her, and Ryder came out to rescue her, dragging her to the car park and attempting to fix her flat tire so they could speed off.

Of course, Zack's "knight in shining armour" act flopped miserably, and John Cena had to abandon his match with Dolph Ziggler to rescue his friend. The whole thing came off like a cheesy horror movie. But still, due to this angle, Eve has become one of the most pushed and exposed women in the company.    

The Angle Will Help Ryder Gain More Fans

For many fans, Zack Ryder is just the geeky guy who got famous for "that Youtube show" and, as a direct result, he has often struggled to connect with the larger audience due to his cult status. Indeed, while his Z! True Long Island Story programme is a big hit on Youtube, it still only does roughly one-tenth of the audience Raw does.

So, while he has made great progress in the last year, Ryder has a long, long way to go before he'll be considered a bona fide superstar to casual fans, most of whom still consider him a lower-card comedy guy.   

However, with this new Eve storyline, not only will Zack be more heavily exposed to WWE fans, he will also be allowed to present a different side of himself to fans, a more dashing, romantic side. Throughout the course of this current angle, Zack has improved tremendously as a character, going from comedy sidekick to troubled hero desperate to save his girlfriend. Due mainly to this angle, fans will take him more seriously.

Additionally, while he is undoubtedly playing second fiddle to John Cena in this current Kane storyline, he has still been presented as someone deeply important to Cena. Ryder may not be in the main event scene exactly, but he is still in the mix. This can only be considered good for his career.

Ryder Can Help Eve Discover Her Comedy Side

Despite Eve's talents as a talker and personality, she still struggles to show her lighthearted, comedic side to fans. Indeed, her main flaw as a performer is that appears to be that she takes herself too seriously and cannot loosen up.

This is where her current onscreen association with Ryder comes in useful. A superb comic actor with great timing (as anyone who watches his show can attest to), he can work with Eve behind the scenes and help her relax and develop more of a sense of humour.

Eve Can Make Appearances on Zack's Show

While it is still wickedly entertaining, Ryder's show Z! True Long Island Story has started to feel, well, a little worn out lately. The jokes feel a little old, everything has started to feel slightly forced (as compared to the complete random hilarity of some of the earlier episodes). Well, it has been going on for over 40 weeks. It was probably inevitable that this would happen.

There's also the fact that the show was started last year primarily to revive Zack's stale career and put him on the map. Now that Zack has a role on WWE television, the whole programme feels a tad redundant.  

So maybe a few appearances from Eve, a popular diva, will help rejuvenate a flagging show? It's got to be worth a shot.  

It Gets Eve Away from the Divas Division

For the most part, the WWE Divas are an afterthought on WWE television. Most of the women try hard, but they are woefully under-used by an indifferent creative team. The Divas Championship is treated as little more than a prop and is defended in two-minute matches. Their storylines are rarely up to much, either.

So generally, it's not a great division to be anchored to, which explains why Eve is far better off involved in the men's angles than she is in her own division. At least in her current storyline with Ryder and Cena she'll get to be involved in an angle people actually care about. For a woman in the WWE, this is no minor thing.

Couples Can Get over Huge in WWE

If the storyline goes and the chemistry is right (although these are big ifs), Ryder and Eve can become far more popular and over as a couple than they could ever have individually. Indeed, fans can often become hooked on romance angles and get fully behind the couples involved. Remember Randy Savage and Elizabeth?

They Make a Great Inter-Gender Tag Team

Certainly, in their inter-gender tag match against Natalya and Tyson Kidd on Raw a few weeks ago (which was when this entire Eve/Zack angle started), the two showed strong chemistry that suggested they could go big places as a team.

Indeed, Ryder and Eve compliment each other heavily in the ring. They are both highly athletic, energetic performers who know how to get a rousing reaction from the crowd, and teaming up emphasizes their gifts as wrestlers.  

Certainly, they could make a formidable couple when teaming on episodes of Smackdown or Raw.
