Super Bowl Predictions 2012: Tom Brady Will Cement His Legacy with Another Title

Nicholas GossMay 31, 2018

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady would become the greatest quarterback in the history of the NFL if he wins the Super Bowl this season.

Another title would give Brady four for his career, which would be a truly remarkable feat in the era of free agency.

San Francisco 49ers legend Joe Montana is often thought of as the best quarterback because of his four Super Bowl titles and clutch play in many important games, but he did that in an era when it was easier to keep teams together.

Not to discredit Montana's accomplishments, but Brady has been successful with less talent and several different receiving corps and running backs.

Brady made receivers such as David Givens and Troy Brown look like great players, and he even got good production out of Reche Caldwell. Brady has also never had an all-pro running back play alongside him for more than one season.

Four championships, two NFL MVPs and multiple Super Bowl MVPs would give Brady the edge over the 49ers legend.

A title for Brady this season could easily be the most impressive of his career. While Wes Welker is an elite receiver, he is not the deep threat that scares defenses like Randy Moss. If teams execute their defensive game plan well, Welker can be stopped.

With Chad Ochocinco and Deion Branch giving the Patriots very little this season, Brady has had to rely on two young tight ends to carry the passing offense in the red zone.

Rob Gronkowski set a record for most touchdown catches in a single season by a tight end in NFL history with 17, and Aaron Hernandez had a fine season too.

For Brady to have such a remarkable season with inexperienced and under-performing players on offense (for the most part) is truly amazing.

The fact that the Patriots defense was terrible this season put even more pressure on Brady to perform well. He knew that the defense was bad, so he had to score at least 30 points in most games to win.

Brady can win in any style of offense, under any circumstance. Having to adjust to playing with so many different receivers in his career yet still being a top quarterback, is a tremendous achievement.

Unlike Indianapolis Colts quarterback Peyton Manning, Brady has never had a receiver like Marvin Harrison or Reggie Wayne that has been with him for most of his career.

Another Super Bowl for Brady would make him the best quarterback ever and add another few bullet points to his Hall of Fame resume.

Brady has more career wins, more touchdown passes and a better QB rating than Montana, and if he ties the 49ers legend in Super Bowl wins, he will pass him at the summit of NFL quarterbacks.
