WWE Royal Rumble: 5 Wrestler Returns That Can Make This Royal Rumble Amazing

John NizinskiJun 2, 2018

The 25th annual Royal Rumble is on Jan. 29, 2012. There are many favorites to win the event and go on to face one of the champions at WrestleMania.

If history means anything, the Royal Rumble always has a few surprise returns. Superstars like John Cena, Kevin Nash, Booker T, Rob Van Dam, Road Warrior Animal and many others have surprised the WWE universe by returning at the Royal Rumble after a hiatus.

There are several superstars this year that could return and shock the WWE universe once again.

Batista

1 of 5

Since his departure from the company in 2010, Batista has not been shy to voice his opinion about the company. This has led to many thinking that he may never return to the WWE and that he has moved on. However, Chris Jericho also recently wasn't shy to voice his opinions and he just returned this month.

Batista could return halfway through the Rumble and destroy everybody in the ring. He should not win the match but it could lead to one more go around with the company.

Undertaker

2 of 5

Undertaker has been out since last year's WrestleMania and the past few years, we have seen the same kind of trend. Undertaker wrestles at WrestleMania, goes on a hiatus, then returns in January or February to start up the next WrestleMania feud.

His return status has been quiet and he could return at the Royal Rumble. Depending on who he will be facing at WrestleMania, he could win the match.

Brock Lesnar

3 of 5

Brock Lesnar recently retired from the UFC and all WWE fans are expecting a return to the company as soon as possible.

While the WWE universe may have to wait a little, it would be surprising to see Lesnar come out like a bulldozer, take everyone out and then eliminate himself and walk out.

He is still only 34 years old, so there really isn't a rush to get back into the ring.

Rob Van Dam

4 of 5

Rob Van Dam has expressed interest in returning to the company. However, he is under contract with TNA.

Crazier things have happened and I'm sure the WWE could offer TNA money or something to allow Rob Van Dam to make an appearance in the Royal Rumble.

This would help fans get excited for him as he will most likely return next year.

Stone Cold Steve Austin

5 of 5

Stone Cold always makes appearances in the WWE and he is still in wrestling shape.

He is the only person to win the event three times and would get a bigger pop than anybody if he came out as a Royal Rumble entrant.

Stone Cold has said he would consider one more match and he would want it to be against CM Punk. Since The Rock and John Cena are headlining WrestleMania 28, it is not likely that Stone Cold versus CM Punk will also be on the card. But if the WWE wants to really pack the event with huge matches, it could happen.

Or he could just "arrive, raise hell, leave."
