Betting Line

Kentucky -10, according to docsports.com. The Wildcats are a good pick to win, but covering that big a spread on the road will be too much for them.

Key Injuries

None

What’s At Stake?

The Volunteers, 8-8 and needing a monster SEC season to make the NCAA tournament, would get a second signature win in conference play. Kentucky, for its part, is looking to preserve its No. 2 ranking and stay on the fast track to a No. 1 seed.

What They’re Saying

Kentucky center Anthony Davis lamented his team’s subpar effort against Auburn in Wednesday’s win. He told ESPN, “They really outhustled us on the boards…At the end, we just had to get every rebound. Every possession counted.”

Martin commended his team’s toughness in a close loss at Mississippi State last night. As reported by ESPN, Martin observed, “When you get down 10 on the road, it’s tough to hang in there, stick to the script and execute. But I thought our guys did that.

Kentucky Player to Watch

C Anthony Davis, the nation’s top freshman, should have a field day against the smaller Tennessee front line. He could easily improve on his dazzling averages of 10.3 rebounds and 4.6 blocks per game.

Tennessee Player to Watch

PF Jeronne Maymon is leading the Volunteers with 7.6 rebounds a game. He’ll have his hands full and then some with the Wildcats’ mammoth front line, but if he can keep Terrence Jones off the glass, it will be a good start.

Key Matchup

Kentucky PG Marquis Teague vs. Tennessee PG Trae Golden. If rising star Golden—Tennessee’s leader with 14.9 points and 5.3 assists a game—can light up Teague (the weakest player in a loaded lineup), Kentucky will be in for all it can handle.

Prediction

Tennessee has already proven how dangerous it can be at home, and Kentucky—dazzling a team as it is—hasn't played especially well away from Rupp Arena. Even so, the Wildcats have too many weapons and too much size for the scrappy Vols to overcome.
