Tim Tebow and Tiger Woods Pebble Beach Pairing Would Make Event Must-See TV

Tim Tebow and Tiger Woods teeing it up together? Maybe the Mayans were right after all.

While the pairing is far from guaranteed for next month's AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Woods has committed to playing the event and Sean Martin of Golfweek reports that the tournament officials are trying to reel in Tebow as well.

The presence of both men would give the early-season tourney an immediate boost, but placing them in the same group would cause a media firestorm unlike anything we've ever witnessed.

Think about all of the different dynamics that would make it must-see television.

Tebow is a devout Christian. Woods watched his marriage dissolve after what he considered transgressions. Tebow has a happy-go-lucky attitude that has endeared him to fans, while Woods is known for his standoffish style, which has rubbed many people the wrong way.

The Denver Broncos quarterback is currently riding the biggest wave of his career after an upset victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers. The legendary golfer is still working his way back from a major slump that has many wondering if he's ever going to be a dominant figure again.

Other than knowing how to win, it seems like Tebow and Woods are polar opposites, which makes for compelling TV. Especially when you consider Tebow can actually crush the ball, as evidenced below.

It's important to note that Ollie Nutt, the president and CEO of the Monterey Peninsula Foundation, has denied there are currently plans to pair the two superstars, according to the Golfweek report. That said, once he sees how much interest it would generate, he could very well change his mind.

With the rise of social media, especially Twitter, when it comes to talking about sports, it would be the perfect opportunity for the tournament to dominate that medium. A Tebow and Woods pairing could set records in terms of tweet frequency.

You'd be hard-pressed to find many sports fans who would be able to avoid at least checking in on Tebow and Woods to see what was happening. It's like an accident—you can't help but to take a quick peak as your drive by. Usually there's nothing to see, but you don't want to miss it just in case there is.

Hopefully Nutt and the rest of the powers that be understand what they have in front of them and make it happen. It would give the sport of golf an immediate boost heading into the season, and the ratings would be through the roof.
