WWE: 5 Reasons Daniel Bryan Isn't Convincing as World Heavyweight Champion

Daniel MasseyJun 7, 2018

Daniel Bryan is the World heavyweight champion now just like the IWC wanted, but it isn’t enough.

He can’t be a convincing World champion, can he, WWE?

There are five main reasons that this relationship between Daniel Bryan and the World title belt aren’t working out and I have listed them in this article.

Bryan is now the head of SmackDown essentially (not that you’d know it...) and it is about time he started acting like a champion should be acting—heel turn or no heel turn.

His Theme Music

1 of 5

Having a remixed version of "Ride of the Valkyries" for one’s theme tune is just not cool and it probably never will be cool.

It makes him sound like he belongs in a Star Wars movie.

It also adds to the nerd stereotype WWE had been pushing on him before his rise to the top of the mountain.

His theme music needs to change and fast if I am ever going to take him seriously as the World heavyweight champion.

He needs something with an edge to it, something to make the crowd stand up and go mental when they hear the first nanosecond of it.

It’s a shameful thing, lobster head...

His Celebration

Does this sound like a credible reaction for a World heavyweight champion?

Okay, maybe David Arquette—but in all seriousness, Bryan needs to stop acting like a child who just found a penny every time he wins a match.

It just makes me embarrassed for him as I watch the glee on his face like he can’t believe he just won.

He should have the confidence to assume he is going to win every match so when he does there is no need to celebrate like that.

He Is a Cowardly Champ

3 of 5

There is nothing worse than a cowardly champ—oh wait, yes there is: a cowardly champ who can’t pull it off.

Bryan is the former American Dragon for crying out loud, and the majority of wrestling fans realise this.

The fact is, the WWE like to stick to their own continuity whether it destroys a character they have signed or not. I’m not surprised Sting never jumped ship.

Cowardly champs have absolutely no credibility when it comes down to it and it just makes PPV matches really boring, as it makes the outcome too predictable—disqualification or count-out until the next PPV when they are in a cage or No Holds Barred match.

That’s OK if it is done once in a while, but the WWE play that card way too often for my liking.

He Is a Liar!

4 of 5

I was looking forward to WrestleMania and watching Daniel Bryan have his moment there.

Why could they not wait to put the belt on him?

It has made him look like a liar and a fool as he cashed the briefcase in at TLC 2011 to win the title cheaply instead of with his wrestling skills.

Ever since he went back on his word I can’t take him seriously as champion.

I am fully aware that this contributes to his impending heel turn, but it still annoyed me.

He Doesn’t Look Like He’d Come Close to Beating Mark Henry

5 of 5

Seriously, he was having trouble with the Big Show on SmackDown.

In terms of storyline, Mark Henry is much stronger than the Big Show at the moment so if he can’t beat the World’s Largest Athlete, how is he supposed to beat the World’s Strongest Man?

I say this because I believe when Henry is back from injury he still has at least one more title run in him so it could be him that faces Daniel Bryan at WrestleMania 28.

I just hope Bryan can start showing what he is capable of in the ring and get a few clean wins over big superstars.

He is the World heavyweight champion after all.
