WWE News: Chris Jericho Reportedly May Not Speak Until After Royal Rumble PPV

Drake OzJun 6, 2018

Chris Jericho came back to the WWE on Monday Night Raw nearly two weeks ago, but the excitement stemming from his return has quickly turned into confusion.

When Jericho made his way to the ring on Jan. 2, he appeared to be thrilled to be back in the WWE, but he did not speak and left us all scratching our heads. Then, he did roughly the same thing on this week’s Raw, when he started off acting very excited but then started crying (in an obviously fake way, I might add).

We’re now left to wonder when Jericho will finally open his mouth for the first time, and as it turns out, we may have to wait another few weeks to hear Jericho speak.

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

"

As noted before, WWE officials have had talks about Chris Jericho winning the Royal Rumble this year. There was an idea suggested this past weekend where Jericho won’t speak on RAW until after the Rumble. This would see Jericho give his big victory speech, speak for the first time since returning and likely call out WWE Champion CM Punk for WrestleMania 28.

"

While some fans are saying that “it’s stupid that Jericho isn’t talking,” I’m actually going to have patience with this storyline.

I mean, it’s Chris Jericho. He knows what he’s doing, and he’s one of the few superstars around who could make a storyline like this actually work.

In fact, if the plan is for Jericho to continue to give us the silent treatment until after winning the Royal Rumble match, then it’s definitely worth waiting to hear Jericho finally cut his return promo and kick off his feud with CM Punk.

Sure, it would have been cool to see Jericho do that the first night he returned, but it’s going to mean so much more and be so much bigger if he does it after winning the first Royal Rumble of his career.

I can already picture Jericho winning the Rumble and then appearing the next night on Raw to rip the fans for cheering him and then tell them that his Rumble victory proves that he—not Punk—is the best in the world at what he does.

Let’s all just give this storyline a chance and wait to see how Jericho’s master manipulation of the crowd plays out. It might all just make sense once everything is said and done.
