Giants vs. Packers: Spread Info, Line, Predictions for 2012 NFC Divisional Round

Andrew KulhaJun 7, 2018

The New York Giants and Green Bay Packers square off once again in a high-stakes playoff matchup, but this time, a trip to the NFC Championship game is on the line.

These two squads are no strangers to each other, and they're no strangers to big games and playoff intensity.

The Packers are undoubtedly the best team in the NFL, coming into this game with a 15-1 record and fresh off their first round playoff bye. They feature arguably the best quarterback in the NFL in Aaron Rodgers and offensive weapons galore. They'll be looking to defend their home turf against a Giants team that beat out the Cowboys in a very weak NFC East division.

For all of their faults, Eli Manning and the Giants offense can be very explosive, and their defensive front four is incredibly dangerous. They trounced the high-powered Atlanta Falcons during Wild Card Weekend, holding them to only two points in a 24-2 blowout.

It's going to be a much harder task against a dominant Packers offense.

Where: Lambeau Field, Green Bay, WI

When Sun. Jan. 15 at 4:30 p.m. EST

Spread: Packers -9

It's tough to tell with these two offenses, but I feel good about a cover here.

Over/Under: 53

Both of these teams can score. This shouldn't be an issue.

Fantasy Big Plays:

Start: Giants wideout Victor Cruz has been a beast this season, and he should have a good game against a Packers secondary that gives up a lot of yards.

Sit: Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is finally playing again, so many are going to want to start him. Being that it's his first game back from injury, though, it might be a good idea to wait and see how he holds up.

Keys To Giants Win

The only way the Giants can win this game is if they get pressure on Aaron Rodgers, which is something they are very good at doing.

They can't get into a shootout with the Packers, so they have to knock him out of his rhythm and perhaps even cause a turnover or two.

Keys To Packers Win

We know the Giants are going to be bringing the heat up front, which makes quick passes and slant routes very important.

Look for Jermichael Finley to play a huge role in this game.

He's much quicker than any of New York's linebackers and is bigger than their corners. Rodgers is going to look for him as a quick-release option against the Giants rush.

Prediction

The Packers were 15-1 for a reason. They are extremely good and are primed for another Super Bowl run. I don't see the Giants stopping that.
