Sidney Crosby to Begin Skating; Will Address Media in the Coming Days

Tom Urtz Jr.Jun 7, 2018

Sidney Crosby came back earlier this season from a concussion only to have another setback which had sidelined him indefinitely. However, the Pittsburgh Penguins recently released a statement on Crosby’s status.

"

Pens coach Dan Bylsma announced that center Sidney Crosby will join the team in Washington Wednesday night and will skate during a two-game road trip in Florida

"Tonight, Sidney Crosby will be joining us on the road trip," Bylsma said. "He will be skating during this trip. He also will at some point in time address the media as well. No set plan, but this will happen in the next few days."

There is no timetable for his return.

"(Crosby) has been working out with light exercises in the weight room and on the bike," Bylsma said. "We'll be glad to see him on the ice."

Crosby missed 61 games after suffering a concussion in January 2011. He returned to the ice Nov. 21 and posted 12 points (2G-10A) in eight contests before suffering from concussion-like symptoms. Crosby has missed the Pens' past 13 games.

This is amazing news for both the Penguins and the NHL. Love him or hate him, Crosby is a polarizing figure and the face of the NHL. The fact that Crosby is starting to skate again is a good sign. While this news is pretty vague, Crosby will be addressing the media in the upcoming days.

That press conference should be very telling on when the Penguins and NHL can expect Crosby back on the ice.
