WWE News: 3 Possible Matches for Royal Rumble Pay-Per-View Revealed

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

The 2012 Royal Rumble is almost upon us, but the pay-per-view's card is still up in the air.

The only two matches announced so far are the 30-Man Royal Rumble match and CM Punk defending the WWE Championship against Dolph Ziggler with John Laurinaitis as the Special Guest Referee.

With the pay-per-view rapidly approaching, though, WWE fans would probably like to know what the rest of the card will look like.

Don’t worry. We’ve got you covered.

From the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (via WrestleNewz.com):

"

Matches booked but not yet announced for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view include John Cena vs. Kane and Big Show vs. Daniel Bryan vs. Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Title in a three-way. At one point, there was talk of doing Cody Rhodes vs. Dustin Rhodes.

"

None of these matches should really come as much of a surprise.

If you’ve been watching Monday Night Raw at all lately, then you’ve seen that the feud between John Cena and Kane has been taking up a ton of TV time, and thus, it would be a pretty big shock if these two didn’t have a match at the Royal Rumble.

The same goes for the World Heavyweight Championship match.

The feud between Mark Henry, Big Show and Daniel Bryan has been brewing for months now, and Bryan’s recent heelish tendencies have made it pretty much inevitable that we’ll see a Triple Threat match among those three at the pay-per-view.

While I’d consider Cena vs. Kane and Bryan/Show/Henry to be locks for the Royal Rumble, I’m not sure about Rhodes vs. Goldust because that feud only recently got started, and it might be better off waiting until WrestleMania 28 for a match between those two.

No matter what, though, it will be interesting to see how these matches affect the 30-Man Royal Rumble match.

Will Kane, Cena, Rhodes and the losers of the World title match also appear in the Rumble match?

Since the WWE roster is so thin at the moment, my guess is yes, but it looks like we’ll just have to wait until the PPV to really find out.
