Floyd Mayweather: Money May's Bold Tweet Must Draw Response from Manny Pacquiao

There's been a lot of back and forth between Floyd Mayweather, Jr. and Manny Pacquiao's camps for years.

If one camp wants a superfight, the other likely doesn't. It's the way things are going right now.

But after Mayweather's jail sentence for pleading guilty to misdemeanor battery of his ex-girlfriend was pushed back to June 1, this is the best time for the two boxing giants to meet.

Mayweather has already booked May 5 at the MGM Grand.

Now he has dished these tweets:

After the news of Mayweather's jail sentence being postponed, Pacquiao's promoter, Bob Arum, said that Pacquiao wouldn't be ready until June, according to Chris Mannix of Sports Illustrated.

Oh, how convenient.

I've bashed both camps during this extravaganza throughout the years, and I feel that both parties are to blame. But I gotta say, this certainly looks like Pacquiao is ducking.

Up until Pacquiao's fight with Shane Mosley in May 2011, I believed Pacquiao was the king of boxing, despite Mayweather's undefeated record. But after a ho-hum victory against Mosley and a controversial win over Juan Manuel Marquez, I'm not so sure now.

Given the circumstances, this just doesn't look good as far as Pacquiao is concerned. There are a lot of whispers that he's afraid to fight Mayweather at this juncture given his lack of dominance in his last two fights. He's certainly not quieting those whispers. In fact, it's become a full-on roar at this point.

After all, what is one month when you have the opportunity to silence Mayweather once and for all?

I can understand it from Pacquiao's point of view. He doesn't want to be rushed. He wants to be completely prepared. But this has just gone too far. If it doesn't happen now, they aren't going to be the same boxers a year from now, and that will defeat the whole purpose.

Pacquiao needs to respond to Mayweather, and he needs to do it fast. His legacy could be tarnished if most of the world believes he ducked Mayweather in his last years in the ring.
