NFL Playoffs 2012: Tim Tebow and Stars Certain to Bust in Divisional Round

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

Wild Card Weekend saw several players step up in key moments, and the same will happen in the divisional round of the NFL playoffs, but there will also be those who fall flat on their face.

Last week, big stars flopped, and this weekend's actions will be no different. It occurs every postseason, leaving coaches, players and fans all upset.

The matchups for this weekend certainly are intriguing, and it will lead to key players failing in high-pressure situations.

With that said, here are three players certain to bust in the AFC and NFC Divisional Round of the NFL playoffs.

Tim Tebow, QB

The Denver Broncos surprised everyone with their overtime victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, especially since they looked awful in losing the final three games of the regular season.

No doubt that playing in the postseason motivated them to be better, but this Saturday night the Broncos will have the difficult task of playing against the New England Patriots.

Having already lost to them earlier in the year, the Broncos will be hungry for revenge, but unfortunately, Tebow is going to flop.

Another poor Tebow performance is on its way, which will doom Denver. The Patriots are well rested and will be fully prepared to beat the Broncos.

They know how bad it will look o fall to Denver, so each and every player will step up and make sure that doesn't happen, resulting in the Patriots' first playoff victory in years.

The New York Giants QB has had a great season, and he knows he is capable of taking down the mighty Green Bay Packers.

Unfortunately, Manning is prone to make mistakes in big moments, which is exactly what will happen Sunday. The week off will have the Packers focused and ready to avoid their mistakes from the first time these two teams played.

The Packers know they're close to repeating as Super Bowl champs, and they're not going to let the Giants get in their way.

Manning's struggles will cause an outburst in New York, which is nothing new. His numbers may be good, but he'll make costly errors, resulting in more points for Green Bay, thus losing the game for the Giants.

Alex Smith, QB

The San Francisco 49ers will be nice and rested after their bye week, but unfortunately for them, they're up against a red-hot New Orleans team that has shown no signs of slowing down anytime soon.

Sure, the 49ers defense has been impressive this year, and the team has played better than most expected. However, stopping Drew Brees is virtually impossible, and the 49ers will look to Alex Smith to help keep them in this game.

This is bad news for San Francisco, though, simply because Smith doesn't have what it takes to deliver on the big stage. He'll need to match Brees score for score, but that's easier said than done.

The 49ers don't have the talent to help Smith dominate through the air, which is why he will bust this weekend, leaving the 49ers empty-handed.
