Rammer Jammer Yellow Hammer, You Did It Alabama....
![]()
Alabama's comprehensive 21-0 victory over LSU in a game where the Tigers offense only got over the half-way line erased the kicking nightmare that was Alabama's Tuscaloosa's adventure and gave Nick Saban his third National Championship with the Crimson Tide.
They'll be naming the stadium after him soon.
Although LSU quarterback Jordan Jefferson was the goat of the LSU pack, there was plenty more poor play where that came from, as the Tigers failed to cope with an aggressive Alabama front that tore them a new one at every opportunity. The fact that punter Brad Wing was their best shot at getting good field position against this defense enough.
My favourite stat of the day? LSU had just four plays in their opposition's half - that's the second lowest figure by any team this season. The first? The footballing powerhouse known as Florida Atlantic. The third? Kentucky (6), Kansas (7), Idaho (8). This was a freaking embarrassment.
As for Alabama, offensively they lived in LSU's half, constantly threatening but delivering little save for a Trent Richardson touchdown and a shedload of field goals thanks to redeemed kicker Brad Smelley, who managed to still miss a few (and a field goal) just to keep the critics happy.
Anyway, well done Alabama, you're National Champions. And for LSU fans? Geaux home, get some sleep, and try not to think about this nightmare ever, ever again.
