WWE/TNA: Is Kurt Angle Overreacting to Other Superstars Using His Moves?
Kurt Angle recently did an interview with The New York Post where he discusses, among other things, wrestlers using his moves in WWE while he is in TNA. Here is a quote from the interview:
"When Jack Swagger copies my ankle lock and Randy Orton does my Angle Slam, it's disrespectful. I didn't come up with the Ankle Lock, Ken Shamrock came up with the Ankle Lock but I waited until he retired to do the Ankle Lock. That company has no respect for me.
"
Swagger has been using the Ankle Lock as his finisher for a long time now, and Orton has occasionally used a move similar to the Angle Slam.

Kurt Angle takes exception to this, believing it to be a sign of disrespect, but is he justified in his feelings or is he overreacting? Certainly, it is not anything new for someone's finisher to be used by another superstar.
In my opinion, Kurt is being a little overzealous in saying it is a sign of disrespect. I do not hear him complaining about TNA stars using WWE stars finishers.
James Storm using the superkick while Michaels still wrestled is a perfect example. Did Shawn ever make a stink about it? No, because he probably saw it as a sign of respect, or as a reminder that he did not own the move.
The Undertaker technically is not retired, but has that stopped anyone from using the Tombstone or Chokeslam? No.
Angle can do one of three things; he can take others using his moves as a sign of respect, he can keep whining about it or he can accept that he does not own the copyright on these moves and forget about it.
WWE not having respect for Angle is such an enormously huge leap for Angle to take with regards to wrestlers using his moves. WWE certainly appreciates all Angle did for them, as seen by the fact that even as he wrestles for TNA, he is included in DVD box sets all the time.
Kurt Angle needs to remember that Ken Shamrock was technically still wrestling when he began using the Ankle Lock submission hold. Shamrock has made appearances in TNA and ROH since leaving WWE.
I like Angle and I think it is safe to say he has earned a spot in the Hall of Fame already, but he needs to lighten up and not take this so seriously. If WWE had no respect for him, then they would have had a fake gold medalist gimmick to make fun of him by now, which, come to think of it, could be hilarious.
What do you think? Is Angle justified or is he overreacting?
