Chris Jericho Returns to WWE: Just How Long Will This Run Last?

The Doctor Chris MuellerJun 7, 2018

Tonight on Raw, we will no doubt see the next chapter unfold in the return of Chris Jericho.

Last week, he came back to WWE and set the wrestling world on fire with his strange behavior and exit without speaking to the crowd.

Jericho was brought back through weeks of cryptic videos which hyped the return of an unknown superstar. Once we saw Jericho standing on that stage with his back to the crowd and his arms extended, we knew that the third-coming of Y2J was upon us.

But how long will he be around this time? Jericho has made it painfully obvious that he has passions and pursuits outside of the wrestling ring which will not allow him to come back for a full-time run.

Whether or not this return is temporary or long term is yet to be seen, but whatever length of time Jericho spends in WWE, you can bet he will make it memorable.

Jericho's first arrival in WWE was built up through video packages which played on the Y2K panic some people had at the time.

His second run was also introduced through weeks of videos which would randomly interrupt the broadcasts. The announcers would make reference to technical difficulties to go along with it.

This last time, there was never one word spoken on screen about the videos they would play throughout the weeks during the show. WWE also did the smart thing of placing hidden URLs inside their Twitter graphics so eagle-eyed fans could be the first to watch the newest video.

Jericho is not making it clear who he's back to feud with, or if he is even back to feud with a specific person, but the heavy favorite is CM Punk.

Punk is using the phrase "Best in the world" which is close to Jericho's "I am the best in the world at what I do."

For weeks, Jericho denied that he was the returning superstar, even going as far as to claim he would never come back to WWE again.

With his age being a factor, Jericho knows he cannot wrestle forever, but he's certainly in better shape than many wrestlers his age.

He has taken periodic breaks from the sport which have allowed him to heal and rebuild and eventually come back even better than when he left.

According to a report at Wrestlinginc.com, Jericho got physical for the first time since his return to WWE at a house show in Texas.

He came out to do his same routine, but this time was interrupted by David Otunga, who threatened to sue Jericho because his jacket could cause seizures.

Jericho hit Otunga with the mic and left to a big pop. One has to wonder if Jericho will be playing the good guy or the bad guy this time around.

Fans will no doubt be excited to see Jericho tonight on Raw, but the question still remains as to how long he will be around. Will it only be through WrestleMania? Will it be for a year or two, or will it be a long run which sees him retire when is over?

Only time will tell.

What do you think, is Jericho in it for the long haul, or is he just here for a little stretch?
