Can Tim Tebow Lead Huge Upset vs. the New England Patriots?

Tony SantorsaJun 7, 2018

Tebowmania is absolutely going off the hook right now following Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos' epic 29-23 overtime, upset victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers—but can Tebow continue to work his "Tebow Magic" next week against the New England Patriots

To make this very clear and very simple: No, absolutely not.

What Tebow and the Broncos did Sunday night was nothing short of amazing, but it was also against a very banged-up Pittsburgh Steelers team that was without running back Rashard Mendenhall and  quarterback Ben Roethlisberger clearly favoring his injured ankle.

When you take a look at the New England Patriots, they don't have too many areas where Denver can take advantage of and we all know that as they failed to do so back in Week 15 when the Patriots escaped the Mile High City with a 41-23 victory.

Now when we take a look at next Saturday's game, it will be played at Gillette Stadium, not at Sports Authority Field at Mile High.

The Patriots have already beat Tebow and the Broncos in Denver when they were riding a six-game winning streak, and they should not have a problem next weekend at home where they often times play so well.

In the team's Week 15 matchup, Tebow showed signs of promise as he completed 11 of his 22 passes for 194 yards while running for 93 yards and two touchdowns. However his offensive attack was no match compared to Tom Brady, who threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns while posting a stellar 117.3 quarterback rating.

I will say that the Broncos did a superb job at taking New England tight end Rob Gronkowski out of the game, but that ultimately opened up the doors for New England's other tight end, Aaron Hernandez, who recorded a game-high nine receptions for 129 yards and one touchdown.

Tim Tebow and the Denver Broncos certainly have had one hell of a ride and they're one of the best stories that the NFL has seen in years, but their season will be coming to an end this Saturday night as Tom Brady, Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots will repeat their Week 15's performance with some home-cookin' mixed in.
