NFL Playoff Predictions: 5 Wild Card Studs Who Will Roll in Divisional Round

Jun 7, 2018

Two of the four games from Wildcard Weekend are in the books. Once the dust settles from Sunday's action the participants for the Divisional Round of the 2012 NFL Playoffs will be set.

We saw some great performances on Saturday and will likely see at least a couple more today, so here's a look at a handful of players who should keep that momentum rolling next week.

1. Drew Brees: QB, New Orleans Saints

1 of 5

This just in...New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees is pretty good.

Brees set a Wild Card round record with 466 yards passing in the Saints victory against the Detroit Lions Saturday night, and there's little reason to think that the National Football League's new single-season record holder for passing yardage won't have another big game next week against the San Francisco 49ers.

2. Arian Foster: RB, Houston Texans

2 of 5

Houston Texans running back Arian Foster came up huge against the Cincinnati Bengals on Saturday, racking up 182 total yards and scoring a pair of touchdowns. If the Texans are going to upset the Baltimore Ravens next week, they're going to need a similarly stellar effort from the third-year pro.

3. J.J. Watt: DE, Houston Texans

3 of 5

Rookie defensive end J.J. Watt of the Houston Texans carried the strong play from his first NFL season over into the playoffs, notching two tackles, a sack, and returning an interception for a touchdown in the win against the Cincinnati Bengals.

Watt and the Texans will have their hands full with the Baltimore Ravens next week, so Watt will need to improve upon his three tackle effort in a loss to Baltimore back in Week 6.

Our guess is the former Badgers standout does just that against a Ravens team that was middle of the pack in sacks allowed this season.

4. Jimmy Graham: TE, New Orleans Saints

4 of 5

New Orleans Saints tight end Jimmy Graham continued his breakout second season in the Saints win against the Detroit Lions, reeling in seven catches for 55 yards and a score. Given the matchup problems Graham has posed for teams all season, he should be in for another big outing in San Francisco next week.

5. Isaac Redman: RB, Pittsburgh Steelers

5 of 5

This one calls for a bit of precognition on my part, but not only do I think the Pittsburgh Steelers will emerge from Sunday's tilt with the Denver Broncos victorious, but I think they'll do so on the heels of a big game from running back Isaac Redman.

That would set the stage for a matchup in Foxboro next week with the New England Patriots, which would would certainly open the door for two productive showings in a row, given the sorry state of the New England defense.
