Tom Brady Can Attend Chiefs, Eagles Super Bowl Production Meetings Amid Raiders Role

Paul KasabianFeb 4, 2025

Las Vegas Raiders limited partner and FOX NFL's lead analyst Tom Brady is set to call the Super Bowl between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday in New Orleans.

Brady has been subjected to restrictions in his analyst role due to his ownership stake in the Raiders, but one of them will be temporarily suspended for the Big Game.

Per The Athletic's Andrew Marchand and Nate Taylor, Chiefs owner Clark Hunt told reporters Tuesday that Brady will be allowed to attend production meetings involving his team. Marchand and Taylor then spoke with sources who said Brady will be allowed to attend Eagles production meetings.

However, Brady can't attend Chiefs or Eagles practices. The remainder of the Fox crew, including play-by-play announcer Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporters Erin Andrews and Tom Rinaldi, can still attend them, however.

Brady was officially approved as a limited partner in the Raiders (he and his business partner, Tom Wagner, bought a 10 percent stake in the team) in October.

It was in the works long before then, though, and Brady began a 10-year, $375 million deal this season to be FOX's lead NFL analyst.

With that in mind, the NFL has subjected him to the so-called "Brady Rules." Mark Anderson and Rob Maaddi of Associated Press provided more information on Aug. 29.

"Brady is not permitted to attend in-person or online broadcast production meetings and may not have access to team facilities, players or coaches. Fox staff is not subject to these limitations.

"He also must abide by the league constitution and bylaws that prohibit public criticism of officials and other clubs, but is allowed to broadcast Raiders games."

Hunt spoke more on Brady this week.

"When (Brady) was approved as an owner of the Raiders, there were a lot of discussions internally (among owners) and that ended up being the recommendation of the league office, that it didn't make sense to have him in the production meetings," Hunt said.

"That's where that rule came from. Since he's doing the game this week, we have no issue with him being in our production meetings. He'll have the access that any broadcaster would have."

That access doesn't extend to practices, which Brady still cannot attend. However, he can conceivably get any information needed second-hand from the rest of his crew.

On Monday, commissioner Roger Goodell spoke about Brady's navigation of being a Raider stakeholder and a Fox analyst, nothing the two talk about it "frequently," per USA Today's Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz.

"Tom has been incredibly cooperative," Goodell said. "He calls frequently about it and says, 'Am I doing OK?' And I think he's serious about making sure he separates these two (jobs) and doesn't put the league or anyone in a position of conflict."

One can surmise the conflict has decreased in the playoffs with Brady's Raiders missing the postseason, although this week is the first where word has been revealed that he'll be allowed to attend production meetings.

At any rate, Brady will be on the call from New Orleans on Sunday, when the Chiefs and Eagles kick off from Super Bowl LIX at 6:30 p.m. ET in The Caesars Superdome.
