NFL Playoff Predictions: 4 Players Who Will Doom Their Teams

Jon DoveJun 3, 2018

Winning in the NFL requires good play from everyone on the team. As much as we focus on individuals, this game is more about team play.

However, we have a need to pin losses on one specific player or play. The truth is, one bonehead play could easily cost your team a victory.

Nothing hurts a team's chances to win more than turnovers. A fumble in a key situation almost always results in a loss.

That one fumble isn't the only deciding factor in a game, but will be labeled as such. Several players in these playoffs will make a critical mistake and cost their team a victory.

Ahmad Bradshaw: New York Giants

1 of 4

Ahmad Bradshaw's career has been filled with explosive plays and fumbles. The fumble problem keeps him from earning the featured-back role with the New York Giants. Coaches hate players who turn the ball over and don't hesitate to pull them from the lineup.

Bradshaw is too explosive of a player to keep off the field, but he doesn't get consistent snaps because of his turnover problem.

A lot of his turnover problems come from is physical running style. He's always fighting for the extra yards, which allows defenders to get in extra attempts at dislodging the ball.

The Giants will need a strong performance from Bradshaw if they hope to make a long playoff run. However, there's a good possibility that he fumbles the football in a key situation.

Dashon Goldson: San Francisco 49ers

2 of 4

The San Francisco 49ers do a great job stuffing the run, but they have some issues in deep coverage. Dashon Goldson had the best season of his career, but his strength is playing in the box and stuffing the run.

In order for the 49ers to earn a trip to the Super Bowl, they will have to beat either the New Orleans Saints or Green Bay Packers. Both of these teams feature great down-the-field passing games, which gives this defense problems.

It only takes one misstep in coverage to give up a deep bomb. The 49ers need Goldson to maintain his deep zone and not get sucked up a play-action. However, there is a good chance this 49ers defense will surrender a deep touchdown.

T.J. Yates: Houston Texans

3 of 4

The Houston Texans are completely different team with TJ Yates under center. His lack of experience really hurts this team's chances of advancing to a Super Bowl. The fact that Houston needs to adjust their whole offense of game plan really limits the offense.

Asking Yates to do more than just manage the offense is a lot to expect from a rookie. Ultimately, Yates will need to make plays with his arm.

Opposing defenses are going to stack the box and aim to shut down Arian Foster. Yates isn't ready to make the plays needed to win in a pressure situation.

Tim Tebow: Denver Broncos

4 of 4

The Denver Broncos need Tim Tebow to find a way to make plays with his arm. Opposing defenses are starting to figure out how to neutralize this Broncos attack.

Expect the Pittsburgh Steelers to put eight men in the box, aiming to shut down the Broncos running game.

Tebow's inability to consistently move the offense with the passing game will ultimately end Denver's playoff run. He will specially struggle against defenses who have aggressive defensive backs.

His inaccurate passing and lack of elite arm strength allows defenders to get a good jump on his passes. I expect to see at least two interceptions thrown by Tebow today.
