Detroit Lions vs. New Orleans Saints Highlights: Watch Video Recap
Drew Brees commanded the New Orleans Saints offense with unrivaled precision throughout the night.
The Saints never punted as Brees picked the Detroit Lions secondary apart, alternatively taking what the defense gave him and finding holes downfield.
The Lions missed opportunities to alter the final result with multiple dropped interceptions and poor tacking. Detroit actually led at halftime but couldn't sustain any offensive momentum.
The Lions will now turn their attention to the NFL draft, while the Saints will begin to game plan for the San Francisco 49ers.
The following slides contain the video highlights as provided by NFL.com.
The Detroit Lions Defensive Line Creates an Opportunity
1 of 5After fumbling only six times all season, the Saints turned the ball over twice in the first half.
Detroit Lions defensive end Willie Young came off the edge and got to Brees before he threw the ball.
There's controversy surrounding this particular play because the Lions clearly recovered the ball with a wide-open alley to the end zone. However, the play was blown dead despite the ruling of a fumble on the field.
As it was, the Lions went three-and-out and missed an opportunity to take control of the game.
The New Orleans Saints Assert Themselves to Open the Second Half
2 of 5The Saints set the tone for the rest of the game offensively with their first drive of the second half.
A balanced combination of the run and pass set up Devery Henderson's 41-yard touchdown reception.
This play was a clear example of Drew Brees' ability to expose the seams in the Detroit Lions' secondary.
Matthew Stafford Barely Beats out the Saints Defense
3 of 5Following a long pass to Calvin Johnson, the Detroit Lions were set up at the 2-yard line.
Since Detroit lacks a power rushing game, they attempted a short pass and quarterback sneak to no avail.
On third down, Matthew Stafford rolled out and barely touched the pylon before his knee hit the turf.
The play was confirmed on replay, and the Lions only trailed by three points entering the fourth quarter.
Drew Brees Exploits a Blown Coverage
4 of 5There isn't much explanation needed for this play.
Drew Brees found a breakdown in the Detroit Lions' pass coverage.
Brees completed the easy 58-yard touchdown pass to Robert Meachem.
This play proved to be the dagger, and it was felt by the crowd as they broke out into chants of "Who Dat."
