Freddie Freeman's Iconic Dodgers World Series Grand Slam Ball to Be Sold at Auction

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman's walk-off grand slam to give his team a 6-3 win in Game 1 of the 2024 World Series against the New York Yankees stands as one of the Fall Classic's most iconic moments.

Now the baseball from that homer will be going up for auction to Southern California-based SCP Auctions.

Multiple outlets reported the news, including the Associated Press. Company president David Kohler said he believes the ball is "easily worth seven figures."

Per Rich Mueller of Sports Collectors Daily, the ball will be offered as part of SCP Auctions' "December Dynasty" auction of historical artifacts. More specifically, it'll occur from Dec. 4-14, according to Will Stern of Clict.

A 10-year-old fan and his father combined to corral the ball after it found the right field stands.

The family has since consigned the ball to SCP Auctions for sale.

"Our family hopes the baseball will be displayed in Dodgers stadium so all Dodgers and baseball fans can view a very special piece of history for the City of Los Angeles," the family said Wednesday in a statement, per the AP.

It's been a profitable year for Dodger baseballs, as the 50th home run ball from Shohei Ohtani to confirm the first-ever 50-50 season in MLB history went for $4,392,000 at Goldin Auctions.

Undoubtedly, this ball will fetch a ton of money as well. It ultimately serves as a legendary moment in MLB and Dodger history. And it catapulted the Dodgers to a five-game World Series victory and Freeman to the World Series MVP award after he amassed four homers and 12 RBI.
