Kansas City Chiefs Wise To Interview Jack Del Rio for Head Coach Position
The Kansas City Chiefs must do their due diligence in the search for their next head coach, so interviewing former Jaguars coach Jack Del Rio was a very wise decision.
Many believe that it's a foregone conclusion that the Chiefs would hire interim head coach Romeo Crennell, who led the Chiefs to a 2-1 record after replacing Todd Haley.
Consider the fact that Crennel's first win came against the undefeated Green Bay Packers, which was their one and only loss this season, and it would be easy to assume that he has a strong case.

The Chiefs apparently have a list of candidates though, and according to Adam Teicher of the Kansas City Star, we can now add Del Rio to the mix of potential hires.
One may wonder why the Chiefs would even waste their time looking at other candidates, especially since Crennel seems like such a sure bet.
Just like with anything in life, it's good to have options, and right now the Chiefs find themselves in a win-win situation if they had to choose between Crennel and Del Rio.
Del Rio has a vast amount of head coaching experience, which is sure to play heavily in his favor. He coached the Jaguars for nine seasons, going to the playoffs twice, and finished with a 68-71 record.
Crennel, on the other hand, compiled a 29-60 record in his six years as a head coach for the Cleveland Browns. If it weren't for the way that the Chiefs ended the season, he may not even be in this discussion if the Chiefs were to base it solely off his head coaching record.
When it comes to hiring a new head coach you can never be too careful, so the Chiefs are wise to take their time and evaluate all their options.
There's nothing worse than going through head coaches like a box of tissues, but unfortunately that's a position that some franchises find themselves in.
The Chiefs undoubtedly want to avoid that mess, so credit to them for taking their time and exploring their options.
