WWE Unveils 1st-Ever Women's United States Championship in New Video, Photos

There is a new women's title belt coming to the WWE.

SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis on Friday unveiled the WWE Women's United States Championship.

The announcement follows the creation of the NXT Women's North American Championship, which was announced at Stand & Deliver in April.

The belt looks similar to the WWE United States Championship belt with added white accents.

Kelani Jordan was named the first North American Women's Champion at WWE NXT Battleground in June. The inaugural title was decided in a six-woman ladder match. Fallon Henley most recently claimed the belt in a gauntlet match in October.

Jordan was one of the members of the WWE community who responded to the news on Friday night.

Aldis made the announcement during Friday's SmackDown broadcast from KeyBank Center in Buffalo, New York.

It was not specified how the inaugural Women's United States Champion will be decided, although Aldis said in the announcement that the title will not be awarded but will be "earned" by its first winner.

The title marks the continued expansion of the women's division and adds a mid-card title that has been requested by multiple WWE stars. Wrestlers have also expressed a desire for the WWE to add an Intercontinental Title for women.
