Dodgers' Kiké Hernández Trolls Noah Lyles on Video After World Series Win: 'Suck It'

Enrique Hernández is the latest athlete to throw Noah Lyles' world champions comment back in his face after the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees in Game 5 of the World Series to win the eighth title in franchise history.

During the postgame celebration in the locker room, Hernández trolled the Olympic gold medalist by telling him to "suck it" after calling the Dodgers World Series champions.

Lyles' original comment was from August 2023 at the World Athletics Championships when he spoke about watching the NBA Finals and being annoyed that the Denver Nuggets, who defeated the Miami Heat to win their first title, were described as world champions.

"World champion of what? The United States? Don't get me wrong, I love the US, at times, but that ain't the world," he said. "That is not the world. We are the world. We have almost every country out here fighting, thriving, putting on their flag to show that they are represented. There ain't no flags in the NBA."

Lyles' comment understandably drew the ire of many within the NBA, including Kevin Durant, Damian Lillard and Devin Booker.

Durant did get his chance to silence Lyles by being part of Team USA basketball at the 2024 Olympics when they defeated France to win the gold medal, so he is a world champion in every respect using Lyles' logic.

MLB has called its championship round the World Series since 1903 so that at least gives the league some leeway in the discussion about what constitutes a world champion.

The main thing that Lyles conveniently ignored in his assessment is a league like the NBA or MLB features the highest level of play for their sport in the world, therefore they can be called world champions.

Hernández and the Dodgers earned their moment of celebration. They won the most games in MLB during the regular season, staved off elimination in the NLDS against the San Diego Padres, got the first walk-off grand slam in World Series history in Game 1, and pulled off the largest comeback in a World Series clincher in Game 5.
