Former WWE Star Bobby Lashley: I Was Offered Mike Tyson Fight 'Several Months' Ago
Former WWE champion Bobby Lashley claims that he once had the opportunity for a high-profile boxing match against one of the greatest of all time.
"I was offered a Mike Tyson fight also. I was offered Mike Tyson several months back. I was like, 'Hmm, that would be a good fight.' People asked me the same question, 'Can I beat Mike Tyson?' I'm not going to say, 'Oh yeah, I can beat Mike Tyson,' but I would like to do the fight. That's what it's all about to me. As a competitor, as a fighter, I'm going to take a fight that comes my way. If it makes sense, I'll do it," Lashley said during a recent signing appearance, per Fightful's Jeremy Lambert.
Lashley is currently a free agent after his contract with WWE expired over the summer. He said in August that he's planning to have a boxing match against a yet-to-be-named opponent in Las Vegas.
This isn't the first time that Lashley has claimed he was in line to face Tyson. He also said in August 2022 that he was approached for a match against the former heavyweight champion at Madison Square Garden.
Tyson is gearing up to face Jake Paul on Nov. 15 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, in the first combat sports event to be streamed live on Netflix. It's expected that the match will draw one of the largest audiences in boxing history.
